Privacy Policy

BimAmp for Android — last updated 8 September 2026

The short version: BimAmp collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no servers. It plays audio files which are already on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no network requests of any kind.

Who we are

BimAmp is developed by Harlequin Labs. For any question about this policy, contact [email protected].

Information we collect

None. BimAmp does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. We operate no servers and no backend service, so there is nowhere for your data to be sent even in principle.

  • No account or sign-in is required or offered.
  • No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or usage statistics.
  • No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
  • No third-party trackers or software development kits that gather data.
  • No contacts, location, camera, or messaging access.

Data stored on your device

To function as a music player, BimAmp keeps a local database on your device. This never leaves your phone and is removed when you uninstall the app. It contains:

  • References to the audio folders you explicitly choose, plus track details read from your files, such as title, artist, album, and duration.
  • Your playlists, playback position, and app settings.
  • Cover art extracted from your own audio files, cached for display.

Permissions and why they are needed

Audio file access

BimAmp reads audio only from folders you pick yourself using the Android system folder picker. The app has no ability to browse your wider storage, and it never modifies or deletes your files.

Notifications

Used solely to display playback controls while music is playing. We send no promotional or marketing notifications.

Microphone permission — important clarification

BimAmp declares the microphone permission, and we want to be completely clear about why, because the label is misleading in this case.

BimAmp never records audio and never accesses your microphone input. The permission is required by Android's Visualizer system component, which reads BimAmp's own audio output in order to draw the spectrum analyser. Android classifies this as a microphone permission even though no microphone data is involved.

This permission is entirely optional. The visualiser is switched off by default, and the permission is only ever requested if you turn it on yourself in Settings. Decline it, or never enable the visualiser, and BimAmp works normally. No audio is captured, stored, or transmitted under any circumstance.

Children's privacy

BimAmp is not directed at children and collects no data from users of any age.

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, or delete. All app data lives on your device and is fully removed when you uninstall BimAmp.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page with an updated date. Should a future release ever alter what data is handled, we will say so plainly before that release ships.
